Remember, The Kitesurfing Collective also offer IKO Assistant Instructor camps and courses, which are an ideal way to fast-track to living the life of an IKO instructor!

The IKO Assistant Instructor qualification is now an integral part of the IKO career path. To become an IKO instructor you need to become an IKO Assistant Instructor. Luckily, The Kitesurfing Collective offers exclusive one week camps -  the perfect place to gain invaluable “live” experience of working within a kite school and walking away with a qualification that will allow you to take the next step to becoming an IKO Instructor.

Through experience we’ve found that our one week course gives incomparable value; as well as priceless experience shadowing IKO instructors, you will even get the chance to try teaching for yourself - a system that ultimately creates better instructors in the long term! 

It’s also an ideal way to prepare for an IKO Instructor Course (ITC) something which we can also help organise!

However, if you're running short on time, the AITC course can still be undertaken in a minimum of 3 days and can be modified to suit your needs. 

No matter what, the Assistant Instructor Courses can be run anytime during the season (October - February) so just let us know when you're over and you could be on your way to teaching across the world!

"The spot is on the shores of the huge Langebaan lagoon, one hours drive north of Cape Town on the West coast of South Africa. The turkish blue water of the 20km long X 1,5km wide lagoon offers exceptional flat water windsurfing and also magnificent kitesurfing for beginners through to advanced.

There is a shop, a school and also the Sandwich Deli where one can get snacks and drinks, change rooms and warm showers. Surrounding this big 600m2 hall is grass to rigg on and also a place to sun bathe out of the wind for the ladies.

The wind direction in summer is side shore and the wind statistics show that from October to March we have 20 – 25 days wind over 20 knots per month. From November through to February one can expect some days of up to 35 knots. In the early mornings it is amazing to rent a sea kayak and venture into the lagoon to see all the birds, seals, penguins and sea life around you.

This perfect combination of wind and infrastructure has brought the German Surf Magazine here to do their Mega Windsurf Test, for 10 years now, of all their wave and freeride equipment. The first week of each November all the manufacturers / designers of windsurf boards and sails meet here with the magazine staff to discuss and present their products for the coming season. All these guys are very approachable so it is a great chance for the public to come and meet them.''

We've been doing some much needed R&D in Sri Lanka, and have spent the day kitesurfing and listening to Triple J's Hottest 100 - bit of an aussie tradition, isn't it?

The Kitesurfing Collective join forces with Ocean Rodeo!

The Kitesurfing Collective are a group of IKO instructors (International Kitesurfing Organisation) based in Langebaan, South Africa. We're focused on teaching people to be the best kitesurfers possible, promoting marine conservation with Sea Shepherd and charity fundraising kitesurfing events.

To begin, we're VERY pleased to announce that we've joined forces with Ocean Rodeo for all our new equipment in the coming season! We're totally stoked!

All our lessons, equipment and retail sales will feature the best and latest 2012 stock from the Ocean Rodeo range.

This blog will be detailing all of our exploits as we kitesurf around the world, with helpful tips and tricks from IKO instructors. We're even going to throw in a few online kitesurfing tutorials as a thank you to all of our readers!
